"Power comes from the bottom up"

Progressivists believed that power came from the bottom up. How is this evident in America today?

I believe that this is present in America today. What can't get through the government by an individual would usually go in a form of protest. Not just government protests. Maybe construction decided that they weren't getting the amount of pay that they deserved for the amount of hours that they worked, so they decide to boycott. That is why I-290 was blocked up, with only 2-3 lanes of traffic. The press gets the word all over the country about protests, that may motivate people into social group about the protest or for the protest, helping the others get what they deserve. The whole concept over Global Warming causes people to think about whether the services that use pollution are really necessary. Some people are so eco-friendly, that they will try to motivate people to be more eco-friendly. Eventually this would cause conflict and then a protest, but most people don't go to that extent. This would be perfectly evident in modern day society.

Does Power come from the top down?

I believe that this is true, but not as much as when the progressivists used to stand up for what they believed in. The power from came from the top down more at that time because most people had trouble settling differences. Blacks were considered to be at the bottom at the time, and people that were in the government or were wealthy were considered the top. Though this ranking is still in effect today, it isn't as bad as it was years and years and centuries ago. Not all people had rights that people now do. They didn't have the power.
